Industry Practice - Rating Decision for Whisper in the Walls

Rating Decision for Whisper in the Walls

For this Blog , I want to mainly discuss what our group Uncanny Valley wanted to choose for our Age Rating for our Game Whisper in the Walls by looking through the different PEGI rating were and what the requirements were about.

Rating

During the first few weeks of the project , we decided as a group that we thought that going towards a higher age rating would be the better choice looking at what our theme for the game was going to be and so we had less restrictions on what our plan was laid out to be since the types of topics that were going to be mention throughout the playthrough can be disturbing for people of a younger audience so being able to have a higher age rating would allow the topics for the game to be brought up consisting of more information and support.

We decided during that time to work with a PEGI 16 Rating.

A seperate option that we were looking towards was going towards a PEGI 12 rating due to the group thinking how PEGI 16 may be too high for what we are going for however we finalised on being PEGI 16 with the reasoning on wanting to showcase how mental health is able to affect a person in the most informative way possible.
