During this Week we started on working towards our presentation that we were going to have to present in class to discuss about our prompt and our game idea with talks about how we would choose our gameplay mechanics having collectables and what type of enemies there would be in the game with the help of a survey to help create some answers alongside a summary of what our game is about and layout of how our work has came along the previous weeks.

During this week , I created a set of block out assets of the 3 different sketch's that I designed last week to try and see how they would look inside of a 3D setting. With the Axes , I'm impressed with how they turned out however with the flail , I will remake it before the final product as I need to create a more stable coil around the stick as it ended up breaking on multiple occasions and never turned out how I wanted the final coil to end up looking so my plan of action is too work on a new model and fix the issues that I was having with this version of the block out.

During this weeks sessions , I worked on Simple Sketch's that were too to represent the beginning areas for the start of our game with gear and enemies that aren't totally evolved yet and having beginning gear that doesn't deal large amounts of damage but are useful during the start of the series.

These two sets of weapons were create in combination with the armor piece as a way to replicate starting weapons that would be created with pieces of scrap around the beginning areas of the map and i used this by looking at gameplay from the game grounded and see how their equipment was made using smaller pieces and combining them together.

Bubble Wrap Chest plate :


I made this set of Armor to represent the type of starter gear you would find at the start of a game as it would have low durability but with the weakness of the beginning mobs , it would not really matter until later down the line in the story.

After Getting Feedback from Sam and other course mates , The Cardboard Axe didn't make much practical sense so I altered the Cardboard Sections and changed it to a shard of glass.

Building Alliance - Microplastics & Style Research

 With the Start of our Building Alliance Project , We were given a selection of 3 prompts to decide and work with so after talking with my group we worked out on working on the prompt that relates to the impact of microplastics on the human food chain


So to start off I looked into how the microplastics affect the human body and the wildlife that would surround the local area when relating to the after effects microplastics would have on the organisms overtime due to our games setting being placed around 50 - 100 years later in the futures timeline , it would have been a good start to research if any behavioural issues occur when looking into wildlife changes after interacting with microplastics for a certain length of time.

Building Alliance - Project Sceduling & Legal Work Information

 

Project Sceduling & Legal Work

 After communicating with the rest of the members in our studio for this project called Wellow Studios and selecting our roles together and communicating on what our different strengths and weakness' consisted of , I was given the role of becoming our 3D Lead which was consisting of me creating the assets for our game and making sure all the models stay consistent to the art style that we are working towards. 

After splitting off into our own little areas to start working on our different sections , I worked on creating a schedule that roughly layed out the timeline for how I wanted my progress across this project to go and attempt to stay on course through the upcoming weeks and with the rough ideas I was thinking about during the first two weeks of the project started writing down what areas I wanted to work towards being the 3D Lead of Wellow Studios.

In addition to creating a schedule for myself as the 3D Lead , later down the line after making a finalised idea on what we were wanting out of me working inside of Maya and Substance Painter , I created a small roadmap detailing the structure of my plan working towards in this project starting from the research , sketch's and block out models , to then start working towards the development stage refine my sketch's , working on orthographics to work onto the final stage towards the final modelling and rendering portion of the project.


My role in the industry :

For Our Group , we decided to assign ourselves different roles to each other which created the effect of actually working inside of a future game company and trying to keep expectations realistic. The role I was given was the role of being the 3D Lead which allows me to control and divide what type of assets we would like modelling for the end of our project and help do quality control with our models to make sure that we are all still on the same page as each other so no ones models are not on theme and working towards a complete different idea that what we would originally plan for.

Whilst being in the Game Industry , having a pipeline that would go through the different team members starting from the idea generation and research team which would slowly go down to the sketch artists who would send it off the people who work on orthographic and final concepts then finally the 3D portion of the team would work on designing and texturing the final assets for the upcoming game that they would have planned.





After creating my schedule for my side of the project , Wellow Studios got together once everyone was finished and signed an NDA , Environmental Statement and a contract of Engagement to showcase a more professional environment when it came to the project and with the guide of our teacher utilised AI to create a guide.

Building Alliance - Moodboards

Craftable Weapon Moodboards



Information on Moodboard : Looking into sets of craftable weapons , I started off with Grounded with how simplistic the crafted weapon designs seems with the enemies drops as they are mostly combined by only a few basic materials whether its just pieces of rope or it has been bashed into the material and its just been slotted in.





Information on Moodboard : When looking into craftable weapons besides looking into Grounded , I looked into the Monster Hunter Series to see how the series incorporates the enemies pieces into the weapons and its utilised such as how some weapons would utilise the scales of different dragons to form blades or shields that would be more effective against a certain type of enemies or use the bones of an enemy to create harsher attack power.

Building Alliance : Start of Research

 

 Research based on Microplastics :

 When looking into microplastics , they are quite commonly pieces of plastics that are classed as being   smaller than 5 millimetres which are able to cause harm to the environment due to the size of the   microplastic particles . Microplastics are found in many different items from commonly being in plastic   products of course however they are also found in cosmetics or synthetic clothing and have now   managed to infect all different areas of the environment especially inside of the different water sources   which can cause a huge issue for the wildlife due to their need of the natural water supply as its their way   of survival but they have also managed to work their way into the air which is also a serious issue.

 Serious Issues with Microplastics :

 Due to the issues with microplastics , it tends to link with how plastic items are not bio degradable so it causes plastic bottles and other plastic items can take thousands of years just to be able to decompose as they cant be broken down into molecules so whilst they take years to break down they are then causing harm onto the environment however its causing different animals to consume this waste commonly different animals that are found in the ocean as plastic is always dumped into the ocean by passing people.

After looking into Microplastics , I started by looking into different games that would work as references for how game was working towards as the theme of microplastics
