Final Project Overview
Final Model inside of Sketchfab
Opinions on my work as a project
Overall when it comes to taking about my work during this project I'm quite proud on how far I came along working inside of Zbrush which was something I had not worked in before this year. Comparing on how the first model in Zbrush I made was blobs of clay because I still had no understanding of the software at all compared to this half of the project where I have managed to work with the brief given to us and manage to create an entire model that was fully rigged and poseable which was something i have never managed to do before which I'm excited to work and develop on during the cut between 2nd and 3rd year of university and develop my 3D skills more ready for the next set of briefs
What went well during the Project
When it came down to this project , I surprising ended up really enjoying working in Zbrush by the end of the entire project by finishing making my character and watching him actually being able to move and function which I'm so proud of where I spent more time into carving the extra details as just sitting there and moulding a small object and slowly transforming it into an entire character was something that I was not expecting to enjoy so much whilst it was a slow process at first I ended up enjoying sitting and working with the Zbrush tools and learning different ways to overcome set obstacles that came my way whilst working on the project.
What could have been improved in the Project
When it comes down to what I think should be improved if I wanted to try and create a character have it be fully rendered and rigged would be mistakes I saw in phases that were complete new in my skill level.
One was when it came down to UV unwrapping and doing the seams completely manual as I saw in my renders of my final character design whilst it was shown in Maya , Substance , or Sketchfab when it came down to the finalised renders the red side horns on the head have lost their texture at the halfway point on the horns which from looking into the model it may come from how the seams are positioned inside of my model causing the lost texture in the finalised renders.
Secondly I want to invest more time into looking how to rig manually and more effectively as for my model I only used the auto rig which was alright for now due to it being able to do simple poses however if I want to do more dynamic posing later down the line I need to try and focus more on how the manual rigging process works more and instead of using the auto rig and being on a small time crunch.
