Talking about the top rated on the itch.io page , it does not follow the theme of the other tags as the top rated relates to life simulator visual novels that follow different paths and having more unique art styles such as comparing Adventures With Anxiety and Doki Doki Literature Club having complete different artstyles.

Do NOT Take This Cat Home
A Game I wanted to look at that could have potential to be able to link to how we want our game to function and act during its production is the options that the games gives you with an underlying theme of softness with the cat being the main target however the cat becomes a danger to the player after making some seemingly pointless choices that would not really effect the story as much , we could be a good point to choose for our game relating to how mental health can be underlying in a character and the choices could drastically change the ending of the character from the first run.

Adventures With Anxiety
The second game I wanted to look into when attempting to link the game to game mechanics that could be a nice point to include when designing our game is how when choosing choice in this game , the character has a meter at the top and once that is depleted the game changes causing the embodiment of the characters which in this game seems to be a fox takes over the character and causing worse choices for them in the end which seems to be a good way to discuss mental health by creating these embodiments of different mental health to help support our games choices in the design phase.
