My Work for Uncanny Valley Studios - Whisper in the Walls
My Concept Work for my Group Project for our game Whisper in the Walls.
A theme within all my UI Art is they are all utilising paper as the main material as I took inspiration from the pile of sketchbooks that I used to have scattered around my work area whilst studying during college and 1st year of University.
Therapist Character Design :
The concept I created before it was handed off to Jess to finalise which was a Therapist character who was originally supposed to be disguised in the background whilst observing our MC who was struggling through their mental health and would have their proper introduction during one of the endings.
Park Scene :
Before handing off the environments to Edward who was our environment artist , I was tasked on creating an environment concept for Edward to later work from.I was tasked in creating the Bus scene which would be used to take our mc of the story Rowan to either an original idea for the ending being visiting their parents or an ending that was placed into the final game was going over and travelling to meet the therapist which is also the character I was tasked to concept.
Starting Screen & Options :
The beginning designs before they were replaced after working inside of ren'py.
UI Buttons :
These are some concepts of buttons designed to go alongside the textbox designed originally by our 2D lead Jess as we decided early on to split the UI between us to split out the work evenly. My design choices for these concepts and my pieces for these different UI work , I looked into stressful planning and studying and what that can cause. As with these button designs I wanted to use the feeling of ripped paper circles or bunch up paper balls caused from the panic and stress of designs not going correct in the mind of the player. With from my own experiences I have had times where I've had paper balls across my work space due to the healing on not having the designs looking good enough which I took into concept here with our game being supported from the research of mental health.
