Industry Practice - Role Model

Role Model

What is my Ideal Job in this Industry

For me , my ideal job being in the industry would be to work in the 3D modelling section of the industry creating different environment's , weapons and props.

Chosen Role Model to Research

My chosen role model for this industry is Holly Ellis who prioritises in making 3D environments showcased inside of their showcased portfolio on their art station. Whilst Holly Ellis has all of their work focused on environments , I wanted to look at how they used different vibrant tones in their environments and develop my own environments to create the same effects and develop my models more to fit the industry standard that these models consist of.

Holly Ellis is a 3D artist who is based in Nottingham which is good to notice as living in Nottingham myself its good to see that there are other 3D modellers that are local to where I live . Holly Ellis is a Senior Environment Artist at Dambusters Studios who primarily specialises in level art and interior design.

When it comes down to Holly Ellis' workflow creating the 1st image example by having another person in her team who is Mark Eastland who created the wbx layout beforehand and handed the layout over to Holly who took the dressing in the wbx layout with further 2D updates to be done creating such a vibrant area for a summer time setting for the Dead Island 2 DLC.

3D Modelling Tools

Considering my desired role in the Industry is relating to 3D modelling , I looked into screen skills and what techniques and software's that professional 3D modellers utilise to create final game environments and props.

Whilst working during the university years , I have been slowly improving my 3D modelling techniques and methods throughout this current year and starting to work with similar software's such as starting to work with Zbrush and working with Unreal Engine during this years set of projects whilst other skills consist of making sure that being able to implement their 3D work into different game engines and having a good understanding of how form , texture and colour are and making sure all the separate elements are able to work together.

Other skills relating to a 3D Modeller is coming down to the collaboration and organisation work as you have to stay as completely organised and making sure you are staying to a schedule and having organised files due to how many deadlines you would be receiving and alongside working in about collaboration in a team setting between different stages of your team and communicating with your team effectively to make sure the entire process runs smoothly ready for the final product.
